About

Kristen E.P. Kaleo comes to Maine after having an assortment of life experiences that help her to understand her clients and their needs on a deep and personal level. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, Sociology, and Health from the State University of New York at Stony Brook on Long Island.

From there she traveled all the way to Hawaii where she became a Licensed Massage Therapist and a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, all leading up to her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. As a therapist, Kristen was able to work with troubled and impoverished families, and she was able to work in the criminal justice system. It became clear to her that she could put her skills and abilities to work on a larger scale by becoming a lawyer.

So, from Hawaii, Kristen and her husband Daniel relocated to Arizona where Kristen obtained her Juris Doctorate from the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. During her tenure in Arizona, Kristen worked for a small family law firm, specializing in divorce clientele. Having a desire to challenge herself further, Kristen accepted a position with the Federal Public Defender's Office in Phoenix, Arizona, in the Capital Habeas Unit. Here she assisted in the preparation of appeals for clients sentenced to death row. While the work was challenging and intriguing, it wasn't the work Kristen was passionate about, and thus she moved on to an estate-planning firm, Becker & House, where she worked on high-end estate planning transactions. Despite all that the desert has to offer Kristen and her family decided they wanted the tranquility and beauty that Maine has to offer.

Since settling into their Portland home Kristen has been admitted to the Maine State Bar and is currently a member of the Maine State Bar Association and a rostered Guardian ad litem for the Maine Court system, advocating for the best interests of children throughout the state of Maine. Starting her own firm has been an unexpected blessing and it is Kristen's hope that she will be able to apply all her varied life experiences toward protecting the interests of her clients and representing them with integrity and passion.

Kristen and her husband, Daniel, reside in Portland. They have 3 children and 1 grandson.
